Officials from the city of Venice, Italy, have announced that tourists would be required to pay an “entry fee” starting next year.
The scheme, to be put into effect from January 16, 2023, comes as a potential measure to control the problems of “tourist overflooding” in the city. Tourists would be charged anywhere between €3 (Rs. 247) and €10 (Rs. 823), depending upon the inflow and number of requests for entry.
A ticket booking system and online platform for the same are set to launch this fall.
